Honeywell FSG Series
FSG series force sensors offer precise, reliable force measurement in a compact, high-quality housing. The sensor features proven sensor technology that uses a special piezoresistive, micro-machined silicon sensor element. The unamplified, uncompensated Wheatstone bridge circuit with low power consumption delivers stable mV outputs in the force ranges 5 N, 10 N, 15 N, and 20 N.
Functionality
Force sensors operate according to the piezoresistive effect, in which the electrical resistance of a material is changed by mechanical deformation. When a force is applied to the sensor, the sensor reacts to tension or pressure via a thin silicon chip. This deformation leads to a change in the electronic structure of the semiconductor material, which in turn affects the electrical resistance.
The sensitivity and accuracy of piezoresistive silicon force sensors make them ideal for a wide range of applications.
