Optomax Basic
Optical level switches use the principle of light refraction and reflection to detect the presence or absence of liquids. This method offers a high degree of accuracy compared to conventional mechanical switches, which are prone to wear and tear and can become less reliable over time. They perform consistently well in a range of environments, including those with extreme temperatures, pressures, and aggressive chemicals. This versatility makes them ideal for use in various industries, from pharmaceuticals to food and beverage to oil and gas.

Enclosure options
For indoor or outdoor installation of the sensor and available in two chemically resistant housing materials: polysulfone, the standard choice for most applications, or Trogamid, which is typically used in the food and beverage industry.
We also offer the option of customizing the housing to suit your installation location.

Functionality
Optical level switches use an infrared LED and a phototransistor, which are positioned precisely at the sensor tip. When the tip is in air, the infrared light inside the tip is reflected to the phototransistor, creating a strong optical coupling between these elements. When the sensor tip is immersed in a liquid, the infrared light refracts, resulting in a reduction in the amount of light at the phototransistor, which changes the state of the output.
