Speed sensors
Honeywell offers speed sensors designed for high reliability and extended service life. These sensors use a range of technologies to detect changes in magnetic fields and generate electronic signals for interfacing with control systems. Depending on the application, they can detect the speed, direction or position of a moving ferrous metal or magnetic target.

Execution
Whether in stainless steel or plastic housings, for rotational speed, velocity, and direction, Honeywell Speed Sensors use a magnetically biased integrated Hall effect circuit to accurately detect the movement of ferrous metal targets. The specially designed IC (integrated circuit) and a permanent magnet are housed in robust enclosures.

Applications
- Transmission speed measurement in heavy-duty trucks, buses, agricultural and construction machinery
- Wheel speed measurement in material handling, agricultural, and construction machinery
- Engine speed measurement in vehicle drives and hybrid engines
- Process speed measurement in the food, textile, paper, wood processing, printing, tobacco, and pharmaceutical industries
- Flow measurement on turbine wheel meters
Detection is contactless, and there are no moving parts. This prevents mechanical wear on the sensor or the object being measured. Honeywell offers a comprehensive range of Hall effect, magnetoresistive, and passive variable reluctance sensors (VRS) that are electrically compatible with most control system interfaces. We also offer a variety of sensor housing types that allow for flexible mounting and compatibility with wiring harness interfaces.
