Honeywell AWM5000 Series
The AWM5000 Series air flow sensors feature a Venturi-style flow housing and measure flow rates of up to 20 standard litres per minute (SLPM) with a maximum pressure drop of 2.25 in H₂O. The robust plastic housing is designed to withstand pressures of up to 50 psi and resist shock without compromising performance.
Each AWM5000 sensor incorporates an integrated circuit that provides signal amplification, linearisation, temperature compensation and gas calibration.

Functionality
In simple terms, an air flow sensor is a device with two pressure ports through which gas flows from one port to the other (see Figure 1). Inside the sensor is a sensitive measuring element with a heated surface.
When air or gas flows through the sensing element, heat is transferred in the upstream direction, as shown in Figure 2. This creates a temperature difference that is proportional to the mass flow of the medium. The temperature difference is detected by an electronic circuit and converted into a corresponding output signal.
