Honeywell AWM90000 Series

The AWM90000 Series air flow sensors are available in two versions: mass flow and differential pressure. They offer a fast response time of just 1 ms and operate with a supply voltage ranging from 8.0 Vdc to 15.0 Vdc.

The AWM92100V provides a flow range of ±200 SCCM with a typical pressure drop of only 0.49 mbar (49 Pa | 0.007 psi). The AWM92200V is a differential pressure variant with a measurement range of ±2 inH₂O.

With a power consumption of just 50 mW, the series is ideally suited for portable devices and battery-powered applications. The compact plastic housing withstands a maximum overpressure of 1720 mbar (72 kPa | 25 psi) without compromising performance, offering a combination of proven reliability and reproducible flow measurement.

Functionality

In simple terms, an air flow sensor is a device with two pressure ports through which gas flows from one port to the other (see Figure 1). Inside the sensor is a sensitive measuring element with a heated surface.

As air or gas flows through the sensing element, heat is transferred in the upstream direction, as shown in Figure 2. This creates a temperature difference that is proportional to the mass flow of the medium. The temperature difference is measured by an electronic circuit and converted into a corresponding output signal.
