Honeywell LLE Series Alternatives
The LLC Series serves as a level switch alternative to the discontinued Honeywell LLE Series and operates on the same optical sensing principle. The SST version features a conical sensing tip instead of a dome-shaped tip, which improves overall sensor reliability. All thread sizes and other critical dimensions remain unchanged.
The sensors are suitable for liquid level detection, leak detection and control of digital inputs, LEDs, signal transmitters and indicator lamps.
Enclosure options
Designed for both indoor and outdoor installation, the sensor housing is available in two chemically resistant materials: polysulfone, the standard option for most applications, and Trogamid, which is commonly used in the food and beverage industry.
Customised housing solutions are also available to match your specific installation requirements.
Functionality
Optical level switches use an infrared LED and a phototransistor positioned precisely at the sensor tip. When the tip is in air, the infrared light is internally reflected within the tip and directed back to the phototransistor, creating strong optical coupling between the two components.
When the sensor tip is immersed in a liquid, the infrared light is refracted into the surrounding medium, reducing the amount of light reaching the phototransistor. This change in light intensity causes the output state to switch, enabling reliable liquid level detection.
