Optomax Digital
Optical level switches operate on the principles of light refraction and reflection to detect the presence or absence of liquids. Compared to conventional mechanical switches, which are susceptible to wear and reduced reliability over time, this method offers a high level of accuracy.
Optical level switches deliver reliable performance across a wide range of operating conditions, including extreme temperatures, high pressures and exposure to aggressive chemicals. This versatility makes them suitable for use in numerous industries, ranging from pharmaceuticals and food and beverage to oil and gas.

Enclosure options
Designed for both indoor and outdoor sensor installation, the housing is available in two chemically resistant materials: polysulfone, the standard option for most applications, and Trogamid, which is typically used in the food and beverage industry.
We also offer customised housing solutions tailored to your specific installation environment.

Functionality
Optical level switches use an infrared LED and a phototransistor positioned precisely at the sensor tip. When the tip is in air, the infrared light is internally reflected within the tip and directed back to the phototransistor, creating strong optical coupling between the two components.
When the sensor tip is immersed in a liquid, the infrared light is refracted into the surrounding medium, reducing the amount of light reaching the phototransistor. This change in light intensity alters the sensor output state, enabling reliable detection of liquid presence.
