Honeywell Technologies announces new ABP3 Series Pressure Sensors

Honeywell Technologies is excited to announce the release of its latest innovation, the ABP3 Series board mount pressure sensor - pressure sensing made easy. ABP3 sensors provide leading performance, configurability, reliability, value and support a wide range of medical and industrial applications.

Board Mount Pressure Sensor

ABP3 Series supports an extended pressure range from 2.5 mbar to 10 bar and an extended operating temperature range from -40°C to 110°C. ABP3 sensors are offered with different liquid gel protection options and provide extensive media compatibility. ABP3 sensors are wet-on-wet compatible allowing the sensor to be used with liquids on both ports, allowing the sensor to be used for liquid flow and clogged filter detection with liquids.

Highest accuracy for the next generation of smart pressure measurement

With advanced ASIC filtering that reduces noise and improves signal integrity, the ABP3 pressure sensors deliver high accuracy and resolution.
Faster sampling rates and dynamic response times, is ideally suited for use in condition monitoring. Furthermore, the ABP3 pressure sensors ensure increased reliability through advanced diagnostic functions that continuously monitor the sensor’s condition.

Overview

Honeywell Technologies’ ABP3 Series portfolio builds on the success of ABP2, but provides greater performance, with new features/functionality and increased safety.
The ABP3 Series is offered with same port options and same electrical pin-out as ABP2 Series and therefore provides a drop-in replacement for ABP2 sensors in most instances. ABP3 pressure sensors provide increased accuracy and resolution due to its advanced ASIC filtering that removes unwanted electrical noise and boosts signal to noise ratio.
The ABP3 Series offers both faster sample rates and dynamic response times that allows the sensor to be used within condition monitoring. ABP3 pressure sensors also offer advanced diagnostics that continuously monitors the condition of the sensor for increased safety.
Honeywell Technologies’ ABP3 provides enhanced EMC immunity to ensure the sensor’s output and accuracy is unaffected when it is utilized within electrically noisy environments. The ABP3 Series sensors undergo extensive testing in our factory to verify compliance with strict internal quality standards.

Honeywell's BMP Sensor Evaluation Kit enables quick, plug-and-play testing

Board Mount Pressure (BMP) Sensor Evaluation Kit are compatible with Honeywell HSC2 and ABP3 board mount pressure sensors. The BMP sensor evaluation kits are easy to install and use and are intended proof-of-concept testing, sensor evaluation testing, troubleshooting and for performing sensor demonstrations. The BMP sensor evaluation kits allow two board mount pressure sensors to be tested simultaneously at speed up to 1KHz. The BMP sensor evaluation software is compatible with Microsoft Windows based operating systems and allows measured pressure and temperature data to be recorded.

Clogged Filter & Airflow Measurements

Honeywell pressure sensors enable precise air pressure measurement differences across both the upstream and downstream sides of a filter. Differential pressure sensor is equipped with two pressure ports: the P1 port connects to the input of the filter or restrictor, while the P2 port connects to the output of the filter or restrictor.
When the filter is in optimal condition, there is minimal pressure difference across it. However, as the filter becomes clogged, pressure builds up. As the clogging increases, the fan or blower must work harder to push air through the filter, leading to increased power consumption. If the filter is not maintained, the input pressure may rise to a level that could cause the filter to rupture, potentially allowing contaminants into the building. The pressure sensor monitors the condition of the filter and alerts the building controller when replacement or cleaning of the filter is necessary. For airflow measurements, the filter is replaced with a restrictor that creates a known pressure difference. The size of the restrictor is determined based on the expected airflow rate within that part of the device or ventilation ducting.

Detect clogged filters safely

Honeywell differential pressure sensors continuously measure the pressure upstream and downstream of a filter. To do this, one pressure connection (P1) is fitted on the inlet side and the second pressure connection (P2) on the outlet side of the filter.

As long as the filter is in good condition, the pressure difference between the inlet and outlet is low. However, as the filter becomes increasingly dirty, the flow resistance increases, causing the pressure difference to rise. The fan must work harder to maintain the desired air flow, which leads to higher energy consumption.

If a contaminated filter is not serviced or replaced in time, critical pressure conditions may arise which can shorten the filter’s service life or even cause damage to it. Honeywell pressure sensors continuously monitor this condition and provide early warning to the building management system or plant control system when cleaning or replacement is required.
